EtherWAN Shows Product Completeness at COMPUTEX

2008/5/5
EtherWAN Systems, Inc., a leader in Ethernet connectivity, is displaying their complete Ethernet connectivity solutions and equipments including Ethernet switches, media converters, and Ethernet extenders at COMPUTEX 2008.

EtherWAN has built up their solid position in the Ethernet connectivity industry. Their Hardened series, an advanced industrial version, featuring wide operating temperature (-40¢XC~75¢XC), steady protection, search protection and anti-explosion, to allow a well function in all kinds of harsh outdoor environments, have won admiration from the market.

At this year's COMPUTEX, EtherWAN aims to show their visitors complete advanced product lines. For example, earlier this year, EtherWAN launched a solution called Poor Man Fiber to target the customers who look for competitive prices or a fiber-free solution. Simply using telephone lines and VDSL, the easy communication (50MB within 600 meters, 1MB within 1.9 km) through this product can be achieved without high costs and fibers. At the tradeshow, the company is going ahead to present the advanced Poor Man Fiber with a software control function. 'The cost of installing fibers is really high. Considering the fact that telephone lines are ready at most places, Poor Man Fiber should be very competitive in the market,' says Laurence Lin, Executive Vice President at EtherWAN. 'What we do now for COMPUTEX is to make this product more intelligent by adding a software control function.'

Again following the fore-mentioned concept of low TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), the company also launches a new solution called VDSL over Coaxial Cable Ethernet Converter. This solution is mostly used for the security surveillance applications. 'It is easier to transmit signals through Ethernet and coaxial cables without adding more cables around the IP cameras.' Lin says.

Lin emphasizes that EtherWAN is highly promoting their PoE Ethernet Switches at the show. Their newly released EX76000 series (supporting Rack Mounting installation with a managed function) and existing EX46000 (Web-Smart), EX45000 (unmanaged) series are major showpieces at their booth.

Another major showpiece is EtherWAN's managed Ethernet extender named ED3171 series. The ED3171 provides power status, VDSL speed, and alarm condition of relay through the web-based browser. ED3171 also provides several advanced functions such as system, SNMP, F/W upgrade, and load default setting through the web-based browser to enhance total networking performance.

The company also introduces the SW5400, a wireless serial device server which connects RS-232/RS-422/RS-485 serial devices to the industry standard 802.11g wireless network. Integrating the SW5400 into the serial device benefits in reducing cabling costs and increased mobility, or deploying a data transfer redundancy system. The SW5400 serial device server is suitable for connecting devices used in M2M automation applications such as industrial, building and point-of-sale where high interference area that Ethernet cable is not practical or possible.

Lin notes that EtherWAN positions itself as a professional provider of industrial Ethernet connectivity solutions. Through hard working for its first two years, the company has successfully educated customers what better solutions they can have, and it is the time for the company to pursue product completeness. At COMPUTEX, the company is showing this competitive advantage to their visitors.
