iSAFE, a leading Intelligent Video Surveillance (IVS) solution provider, is expecting to roll out a patient monitoring system at the end of this year according to iSAFE chief technical officer Harry Chang.
'We are developing software for telemedicine application. It bears structural similarity to our security and surveillance systems because both telemedicine and security are IP-based and use Internet as a platform. Therefore, the underlying communication technologies used for both are the same,' said Chang.
The patient monitoring system is to send the terminal information via Internet, whether it is video information or biosignal information, to a far end for central monitoring, according to Chang. 'Equipped with the basic technology for the system, we are adding biosignal monitoring devices at the terminals. We are designing a wireless monitoring system by attaching to the patient a wireless monitor that is capable of detecting ECG signals, temperature and respiration and is capable of recognizing abnormalities and sending out warnings. We are expecting to roll out the patient monitoring system at the end of this year,' said Chang.
