EtherWan Systems, a leader in Ethernet connectivity for applications in various markets, releases the EX17000 series, a line of commercial & web managed Ethernet switches with Power over Ethernet (PoE) capability. The first two products to be released are an 8 port and 16 port switch, each capable of driving Power over Ethernet to each port at 15.4W per port.
These switches provide power for IP equipped CCTV cameras, telephone equipment or wireless access points over the same cable that also carries the Ethernet signal. The EX17008 is an 8 port Ethernet switch and the EX17016 is a 16 port Ethernet switch. Both switches have internal power supplies and may be powered from 100 to 240VAC, 50 or 60 Hz. Certified by UL60950-1, both EX17008 and EX17016 series are designed to work as telecommunication network infrastructure equipments.
The switches allow security integrators to deploy IP equipped CCTV cameras, card readers and other IP ready equipment without separate wiring for power to the end devices. The integrator only needs to pull category 5 or 6 Ethernet cable, as these switches provide Power over the Ethernet Category 5 or better cable.
