[Consumer, Communication & Car Electronics-Highlights]Rohde & Schwarz Offers full 3GPP LTE, WiMAX, and Mobile TV Solutions

A  comprehensive product portfolio including: flexible and highly accurate T&M equipment for standards such as 3GPP LTE, mobile WiMAX and mobile TV test and measurement solution was showcased by Rohde & Schwarz recently.

TSMW is a universal mobile radio scanner that features two integrated receivers and includes WiMAX functionality. The two receivers allow considerably faster operation than solutions that use mobile phones with test functionality. At the same time, the scanner delivers accurate results across the entire high measurement bandwidth because individual blocks can be filtered out by using adaptive preselection. This allows network operators to perform drive tests for setting up and optimizing WiMAX networks. The R&S TSMW's platform concept makes it suitable for all technologies with bandwidths up to 20 MHz. It can be expanded for current and future standards via software options.

Flexible 3GPP LTE Measurement Solution

For its signal generators and analyzers, Rohde & Schwarz provides highly flexible solutions for 3GPP LTE by means of software options. Manufacturers of mobile terminals can thus respond very quickly to all new developments of the standard. After final adoption of the standard in 2008, the software is to be integrated into the analyzer firmware. 2x2 MIMO fading in realtime are also available. The software is installed directly on the instruments. Users can call up predefined scenarios or set the parameters of reference symbols as well as control, synchronization and data channels as required. Plus, they can configure subframes independently of one another.

When used as an LTE protocol tester, the R&S CMW500 delivers multiple benefits to chipset and wireless device manufacturers ¡V in every phase of UMTS LTE-compliant protocol development. Benefits include significant cost reductions for the entire development of UMTS LTE wireless devices because the protocol stack can be checked at an early stage.  Furthermore, the protocol tester reduces time to market since hardware and software can be co-developed, tested and fine-tuned simultaneously.
