[Components & Peripherals-News Browse] Samsung Unveiled 31-inch OLED TV Prototype

Samsung unveiled prototypes of 14-inch and 31-inch OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) TVs using AM-OLED (Active-Matrix OLED) panels. According to a press release by Samsung, these two OLED TV models are slated for commercialization around 2010.

With a full HD (High Definition) resolution of 1920x1080, the 31-inch prototype is claimed to be the largest OLED TV at present. Moreover, with a thickness of less than 20mm, the weight of the prototype is reportedly 40% less than similar-sized LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TVs.

Meanwhile, the company also unveiled an ultra-slim 52-inch LCD TV - reportedly the slimmest of its type in the market so far - which is slated for mass production in 2009, according to the same source.
