NXP, the independent semiconductor company founded by Philips, has announced that its STB100 platform has been selected by DVN, a major Chinese digital-cable-television equipment manufacturer to meet growing demand for digital TV viewing throughout the home. The flexible NXP set-top box solution was chosen for providing leading-edge performance at a competitive price-point. NXP's STB100 allows DVN to give cable and pay-TV operators the ideal economy platform to offer set-top boxes, ensuring subscribers can watch DVBC services at leisure from any television in the house.
The NXP set-top box solution has been certificated and field-tested by DVN across China, and has been available for cable operators since end of 2007. With over 100 million households in China already receiving cable TV services, and an average of over two televisions per household, the new DVN solution ensures cable operators can offer consumers the chance to view advanced TV services on existing analog televisions without needing to upgrade sets. The NXP STB100 platform offers the level of functionality required from set-top box platforms, while delivering optimum performance and quality.
