Data-Tec.'s MP480 is a USB2.0/Ethernet combo HDD multimedia player, integrating multimedia and networking features to serve as a home entertainment center . The MP480 not only can play movies, music and photos directly from the drive to the TV, but also enables users to share, store and play files once it is connected to a wired or wireless router.

Data Tec.( www.data-tec.com.tw) provides the Layerwalker’s solution for the Network Access( Intranet) , which has no need for complicated TCP/IP settings. Users can store all files in one central location and share as a simple drive without the need of mapping any network drivers. It supports various video codec formats, such as AVI (DivX , XviD), DAT, MPG1/2/4, H.264 , RM/RMVB , WMV and VOB . When attached to an AV device, the MP480 you browse and play back your entire media library directly to your TV. The MP480 can support both NTSC and PAL TV systems.

It is equipped with component video jacks(Y/Pb/Pr jacks) which provide you with high quality output for your home theater High Definition flat panel display. It is also is equipped with a COAXIAL RCA jack for outputting digital audio signal to a receiver. 

Apart from that , it can be used as a multimedia player , MP3 player or photo slider. Users can download movie files directly to the MP480 then turn on the TV and enjoy the video directly from MP480 without having to resort to the PC.

The embedded super mini FAN is small but a great cooler for the device, also the first-class aluminum casing also offers good heat dissipation and protection to the HDD enclosed within. 

As the MP480 is a wired multimedia server with solution of AOE (ATA over Ethernet), users can install any 3.5-inch SATA hard drive and easily save and share multimedia files through network.

Users can use My Network Place to access the files. The MP480 has a built-in USB 2.0 slave port to connect with the PC directly. Once it is connected, the MP480 will appears as a USB storage device to your PC.

Therefore, you can download large files at faster speed through the USB connection whenever necessary. The player has a kid's lock function that can lock the hard drive partition; if there are files on hard disk that unauthorized persons are not allowed to gain access. The user can simply setup the password to prevent unauthorized access.
