2009 ICT Industry Forecast: LCD TV to Stand out in Recession Time
The global economic recession is getting severe that also brings people back to several tragic downturn crises in the previous time. TV industry, however, stands firm in such a disappointed moment due to some major reasons. According to researcher Maxwell Chang at Topology Research Institute(TRI), the global total LCD TV shipment is expected to reach a 25% growth rate with 12.6 million units by 2009. While Taiwan may enjoy a positive shipping volume, the YoY may probably reduce to 27%. Companies include TPV Technology, Wistron, and Compal will lead the Taiwan market with at least 50% growth forecast. Key features such as super slim, networkable, wireless transmission, high dynamic and energy saving are playing significant position for future LCD TV trend development in 2009.

Taiwan's Basic/Feature Phone Industry Relatively Unaffected by Global Economic Woes in 3Q'08
According to statistics of the ITIS project -a project initiated by Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs and conducted by Taipei-based MIC, Shipment volume of the Taiwanese basic/feature phone industry is estimated at 20.72 million units in the third quarter of 2008, up 13.3% sequentially. The industry's shipment value in the third quarter is estimated at US$753 million, and ASP (Average Selling Price) rose to approximately US$36.
