IDC's Worldwide Quarterly PC Tracker Shipments Indicates PC Market Growth Continuously Boosted By Portable Adoption In EMEA As Growth In Asia/Pacific Slows
Worldwide PC Shipments continued to grow at a healthy pace in the second quarter of 2008 (2Q08), according to IDC's Worldwide Quarterly PC Tracker. Shipments were up 15.3% from a year ago ¡V slightly more than second quarter projections and first quarter growth of 14.9%. Solid growth in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) region helped offset slower growth in Asia/Pacific excluding Japan (APeJ). As the IDC report shows although the demand of the United States suffered from getting through economic pressures, Dell still continued its recovery with Dell continued its recovery with another quarter of double-digit growth.

Taiwan's Desktop PC Industry Shipment Expected to See Sequential Growth in 3Q '08, According to MIC
According to MIC (Market Intelligence Center, Taiwan), an ICT industry research institute based in Taipei, the desktop PC replacement effect and the possible impact of global stagflation on demand in emerging markets will be two major factors affecting Taiwanese desktop PC contract production volume in the second half of 2008. It is expected that the Taiwanese desktop PC industry's shipment volume will reach 12.38 million units in the third quarter of 2008. Stimulated by the increase in shipment volume, Taiwanese desktop PC shipment value is expected to reach US$3.60 billion.
