TWTC Hall 2, the paint-chipped structure pressed in a lot between the TAIPEI 101 and the District Office is to live another day. It’s a veteran hub for many Taipei Trade Shows and its owner Taipei City Hall was about to demolish it until the intervention by TAITRA, the organizer of COMPUTEX TAIPEI.
The reprieve helps COMPUTEX TAIPEI continue its year-on-year expansion in scale, size and visitors. That means Hall 2 will again be joining the flagship fleet comprised of five exhibition halls, namely TWTC NANGANG Exhibition Hall, TWTC Hall 1 & 3, the Taipei International Convention Center and of course Hall 2.
The five halls joined mean a record high 1,800 exhibitors can join COMPUTEX TAIPEI this June 5-9 to turn on a record scale 5,400 booths from the 5,298 booths in last year’s show. .
The space race for booth space has been a constant hurdle for the organizing team at COMPUTEX TAIPEI who have been forced to place scores of potential exhibitors on waiting lists. The use of Hall 2 will buy time for TAITRA as it waits for second state-of-the-art Hall to complete construction adjacent to NANGANG Exhibition Hall.
This summer’s COMPUTEX TAIPEI, Asia’s largest ICT procurement platform, unfolds June 5th to June 9th to profile such areas as tablet PCs, ultrabooks, smartphones, e-books, 3D technology and cloud computing.
In related news, TAITRA has signed a MOU with three world leading IT trade shows. These agreements cover CEA, the organizer of International CES, Deutsche Messe, the organizer of CeBIT and Messe Berlin, the organizer of IFA. This global move consolidates cross-continent promotions in publicity and information throughout the industry. These alliances are expected to bring the show fresh synergy, especially across Europe and the Americas.
In addition, the coming event will provide exhibitors and visitors with a new APP that includes functions of show map navigation, in-APP pre-registration, data exchange by bumping phones, social networking, calendar integration and Taipei travel information.
In addition, TAITRA has negotiated with the Taipei Metro Corporation to integrate a two-day metro pass into foreign visitors’ RFID badge to enable foreign visitors to easily travel between halls and also visit scenic spots in their free time.
