When the best from East and West sign up and shake hands with a vision of building a better ICT-future, get set to see some good results. From the East came the folks from COMPUTEX TAIPEI, the first exhibition in Taiwan, to sign any cooperation agreement with an international counterpart, marks a significant milestone for the Taiwanese exhibition industry who represented some of the best of the West represented by IFA.
In signing the Sept. 5th MOU (Memo of Understanding) Mr. Walter Yeh, Executive Vice President of TAITRA and Mr. Jens Heithcker, Director of IFA, Messe Berlin, noted the importance of this strategic alliance, which includes the exchange of exhibition information, promotional materials, booths, and VIP services, as well as co-holding events to spotlight and enhance the images of the two exhibitions.
The agreement further consolidates cooperation between COMPUTEX TAIPEI and IFA. At the ceremony at in Berlin Mr. Heithecker and Mr. Hans-Joachim Kamp, Member of the Supervisory Board, gfu, discussed how they would further cooperate to facilitate global ICT by enhancing the status of the two important exhibitions.
In opening the meeting, Mr. Kamp, who is also chairman of the Consumer Eletronics Dision and Vice President of German Electrical & Electronic Manufacturers' Association (ZVEI), expressed his gratitude and recognition of TAITRA's effort in helping Taiwanese companies exhibit at IFA. He stated that IFA is delighted to see Taiwan continuing to use the dedicated Taiwan Image Hall to stage the best output of Taiwan industry.
Later in the meeting, Yeh stated that TAITRA has spared no effort in helping Taiwanese companies exhibit at IFA and would continue doing so by providing more information about IFA which is one of the most important consumer electronics exhibition in Europe and the latest European CE trend provider. Increasingly larger numbers of Taiwanese companies have shown interest in participating at the show in its 85th cycle which has grown from an A/V entertainment and home appliance exhibition into an annual fair symbolizing the latest global CE trends. Mr. Yeh also invited Mr. Kamp, who, besides all the positions above, is also a key heavyweight—CEO of Philips Germany, Austria and Switzerland, to share his insight and expertise as a keynote speaker at TAITRA's important IT tradeshow, TAITRONICS, in October.
The year 2009 is the Convention and Exhibition Enhancement Year in Taiwan as part of government's 4-year Taiwan MICE Advancement Program. As a result Taiwan's first-ever Exhibition & Convention Industry Show will pair with 2009 Asia MICE Forum at Taipei World Trade Center in November; UFI, the well known global exhibition association, will have its "UFI Open Seminar in Asia" in Taipei, Taiwan in March, held by TAITRA.
The signing of this MOU between Taiwan's largest tradeshow and Europe's most important CE show certainly bodes well for the above plans, events, and the future of Taiwan's convention and exhibition industry. |
