Computer industry is quietly undergoing a revolution , as more and more MIDs have been spawn to the market. At he COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2008 show floor, various kinds of MIDs were exhibited, such as AsusTek's new version of Eee PC, Acer's Aspire One, MSI's Wind NB, Gigabyte's M918/M528, and E-Lead's debut PC product, Noahpad UMPC. Mr. Grigory Golman, Publisher of Russian's PC Magazine, had great interests in the UMPC and mini-PC products. He took lots of pictures of these novel gadgets, which were very attractive to BRIC countries. To grab the business chances in Asia, Elonex International Ltd., a UK company, participated in COMPUTEX TAIPEI for the first time. The company gave its first shot demonstrating its new mini-note product and obtained enthusiastic responses. Mr. Sam Goult, marketing manager of Elonex, was very happy with the result and indicated that they will continue to join the show next year. As for IPO representatives, COMPUTEX TAIPEI is the annually big event for them to observe the market trends of ICT industries, as well as to investigate the price trends for various products. Chia-wen Yeh , who is a product manager from one of the largest IPO institute in Cypress and has years of experiences in pan-Europe market, indicated that, in addition to Flash, SSD, DVD Player, PMP, and Digital Photo Frame, the eyeball-catching MIDs are being considered to be included in their products portfolios. It shows that the IPO representatives have high expectations on the potentials of MID market. |

Due to economic recovery and booming of the consumer market last year, market demand of notebook PC keeps growing relatively. According to the ITIS report, the total shipment volume of the Taiwanese notebook PC industry reached 90.16 million units in 2007, and there was a 42.1 % annual growth rate.
The shipment volume of the Taiwanese notebook PC OEM/ODM companies has already exceeded 92% of the global shipment volume. Among all OEM/ODM vendors, Quanta, Compal, Wistron, Inventec and Asus are the top five giants.
