COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2008 Closes at a High Point!

This year is a watershed year for COMPUTEX TAIPEI because it has attracted record numbers of buyers, exhibitors and booths. Altogether there were 1,725 exhibitors who used 4,492 booths. Among them were 328 overseas companies from 25 countries participating in the show.

COMPUTEX TAIPEI has also welcomed a record number of international buyers. The number of buyers has reached 34,685. The top 5 buyer countries are as follows: US, Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore.

To create more business opportunities, TAITRA organized more than 2,000 procurements meetings on June 3 and June 4. Many of these meetings were participated by such big brands as Gigabyte, PQI, A-Data who participated in scores of meetings. Altogether these procurement meetings attracted 113 companies from 32 countries. Products like competitive-price computers, GPS, LCD TV, and internet communication products were most popular among buyers. During the two days, the procurement meetings generated US 200 million dollars!

Apart from the great business opportunities, COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2008 held numerous events starting with the International Press Conference and COMPUTEX TAIPEI design & innovation awards.

TAITRA this year went all out for the environment by featuring a Green IT Pavilion with solar energy, LED, and related green IT technologies. The idea of "Ecolution" brought up by MSI can actually be found in many products displayed by our exhibitors. The idea of Green IT has been the theme in major ICT exhibitions around the world, like CES and CeBIT, but it is really in COMPUTEX TAIPEI where all the slogans and dreams come true as products. We also arranged a Green IT Forum that included an audience of more than 200 who heard from key executives at HP, Sun Microsystems, Dell and ASUS. This was a great endeavor that let top IT companies explain their efforts to combat global warming while introducing the latest green IT products.

During those talks we learned that massive growth is projected in Taiwan's solar energy industry and that it's expected to reach a total value of US$ 12.5 billion in 2015 from US$69.3 million in 2006.

Another big attraction--the competitively-priced PC has grabbed the attention of both professional buyers and consumers. This year's Pavilion focused on Low-Price PCs and related hardware and systems and opened a perfect platform for breakthroughs in this area. After Asus swept the whole world with their Eee PC, brands of small and big, Dell, HP, Gigabyte and MSI followed suit and have further strengthened the new trend.

Several big brands have chosen COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2008 as the place to show the world their new products: Intel shared had its global launch for its new processor. Asus' booth was packed with people interested in its Eee PC and many award-winning products. MSI's eye-catching laptop WIND and award-winning mainboard have been

COMPUTEX TAIPEI is now at a whole new stage as we embrace the success of using up to 4 venues at the same time. Because of all the extra space, a more complete ICT chain is available for buyers. Microsoft, for example, pointed out that it could now exhibit side by side with its partners so to provide a clear picture of the whole chain from upstream to down stream. That is exactly what we have tried to shape COMPUTEX TAIPEI into--the ideal ICT procurement platform for one-stop sourcing.
