The first int'l pre-show press conference for COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2009 was held in Grand Victoria Hotel on December 8 with enthusiastic participation of 61 journalists from 13 countries. Besides media from the UK, Germany, U.S.A. and Japan, the event also enjoyed the participation of media from emerging markets such as Russia, Brazil, India, Vietnam and Poland, ranging from newspapers, magazines to websites and televisions. COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2009 will be held from June 2 to June 6, with 1,800 exhibitors using around 4,800 booths; Cross-strait Exhibition Area will feature around 200 Chinese exhibitors this year; the exhibition will feature products of green energy, netbooks, WiMAX and MID. According to statistics of the ITIS project -a project initiated by Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs and conducted by Taipei-based MIC -shipment volume of the Taiwanese cable STB (Set Top Box) industry is estimated at 2.2 million units, representing a year-on-year growth rate of 23%. Meanwhile, shipment value reached approximately US$144.5 million, up 16.1% year-on-year. With the increasing demand for HD and PVR models in the European and North American markets, shipments of these two product types have seen significant growth. As a result, ASP (Average Selling Price) of the Taiwanese industry reached US$65.7 in the third quarter, up 2.2% sequentially. |
