To encourage buyers from the Middle East to visit COMPUTEX TAIPEI, TAITRONICS, BROADBAND TAIWAN, TAIWAN RFID, and Photovltaic Forum & Exhibition Taiwan, TAITRA started a series of events and services in GITEX. In combination with the latest ICT award winning fine products from Taiwan, a press conference and new product release conference was held on October 20th at Hotel Al Murooj Rotana Ballroom D&E.
Besides inviting reporters and buyers to Taiwan in the press conference, a joint promotion service stand is set up at GITEX (Stand 829) to encourage international buyers to explore business opportunities by means of the Taiwan Trade Network and the procurement platforms mentioned in the foregoing and hand out information on the Taiwantrade website and services TAITRA provides. Visiting buyers are highly interested in COMPUTEX TAIPEI and are fully aware of it, indicating that the show is gaining publicity on the international market.
Nearly 100 manufacturers from Taiwan exhibit in the show, covering an area over 1,500 square meters and second only to China’s 120 manufacturers and 1,560 square meters. For the first time, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council sets up the Taiwan Image Hall in The Pavilion, where 53 award winners from 20 fine products manufacturers are displayed. The whole image hall comes with the elegant white design to signify the glory communicated by the red symbol for Taiwan fine products. The Tatung HD LCD TV guides visitors into a world of fine products and enables them to see the latest products developed in Taiwan, including the 3D Bluetooth portable navigation system (R700t series) and the popular Eee PC from Asus and the business auto-zoom animation Document Camera – SPB350 developed by AVerMedia.
Meanwhile, Gigabyte-Gsmart and KYE-Genius, the Silver Medal manufacturers that demonstrate high ICT design levels in Taiwan also introduce the new notebook heat sink, GSmart 3.5G GPS PDA mobile, and the world’s first touch screen Bluetooth headset (BT-03i) to buyers in the Middle East. On the first day of the show, many buyers already requested the English/Arabia bilingual brochure in order to purchase the latest technology products from AIPTEK, Apacer, ATEN, ATP Electronics, C-ONE Technology, Eastern Global Corp., EDIMAX, ENERMAX, E-TEN-Glofish, First Int’l Computer (FIC), Gigabyte, In Win, KYE-Genius, Lei Yueh, MSI, Nanya Technology-Elixir, Openfind, Thermaltake, Transcend, and VIZO.
The GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK is the largest ICT show in the Middle East. The show runs from October 19th to October 23rd 2008 on a grand scale and 3,000 booths are used. A big feature of this show is that there are as many as 32 national pavilions configured for countries like China, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, U.S., Canada, Australia, Germany, Italy, U.K., France, Spain, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, India, Jordan, Pakistan, Egypt, etc. In addition, the showground is filled with banners from sponsoring manufacturers, such as international giants Panasonic, Intel, Google, HP, Oracle, Symantec, Lenovo, acer, MSI, ECS, and Dubai’s two major mobile manufacturers Etisalat and du, indicating the internationalization of the show.
Besides continuing to extensively promote ICT industries in the Middle East through three original theme sections, namely GITEX Business Solutions, GULCOMMS and Consumer Electronics during the GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK, the Dubai World Trade Center, organizer of this GITEX, will add new theme sections, namely Office Technology Solutions, Communications and Consumer Electronics. It is also the first time that this show allies with the European Electronics Sports League (ESL) to hold the GITEX Digital Game World in the public corridor in front of Consumer Electronics, which is claimed to be the largest electronics competition in the Middle East and is estimated to have attracted 4,000 cyber athletes.
At the opening ceremony on the morning of the 19th, Sehikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President of United Arab Emirates and current Prime Minister and Dubai Crown Prince delivered a speech and cut the ribbon to open the show. It is estimated that over 130,000 visitors and 3,300 businesses from 83 countries were in the show this year. Along with the GITEX Shopper Exhibition held concurrently at the Dubai International Airport, the organizer claims that the number of visitors reach ed 280,000. Everyday during the show, there will be the Gadget Glam technology products cat walk and GITEX TECHONOLOGY WEEK GLOBAL CONFERENCE. Etisalat sponsors nearly 35 rounds of seminars on the role of real estate technology in the region, the demand for intelligent communication technology and the new role of communications business, the three major topics. On the opening night, an exhibitor welcome cocktail party was held on the showground that could accommodate a headcount of 600 people at once in order to maximize promotion efforts and services.
